GET THE LOOK: THHABA JEWELRY

I have been longing to explore more jewellery with deep spiritual symbolism, and as luck would have it, the universe has recently rewarded me. A wonderful Kuwaiti jewellery designer and architect in one, Abrar Al Ebrahim, shared the story behind her Th’haba Jewelry and presented me with an opportunity to choose from the delicate jewels from her THAMANIYA and YIELD collections to create an otherworldly look .

My feelings from wearing jewellery with such powerful symbolism inspired me to create a completely white outfit with a feather-like flowing white Teatum Jones dress. I was like a portal open to receive the universal energy and Th’haba Jewelry was enabling this positive energy to flow!

Gazing at the the two-finger ring from THAMANIYA collection on my hand I’m suddenly struck with a realisation that it is the accurate representation of a pyramid! The name of the collection itself means eight in Arabic and pays homage to the initial 8-sided design of ancient Egyptian pyramids. Number 8 itself has a strong spiritual reference to infinity and the peak state.

The designer Abrar Al Ebrahim was inspired by the energy she experienced inside a pyramid, when she was on spiritual journey in Egypt. The open disconnected hoop style earrings, the delicate bangle bracelet and the splendid choker that I am wearing are all crafted from 18kt yellow gold adorned with a brilliant diamond on top of each pyramid structure.

“THAMANIYA collection is a salute to how an 8-sided entity can create a portal, where you are elevated if you use it properly. And 8 is the number you should use for that. Even in the Quran there is a phrase meaning the throne of God is carried by eight. Even in the Quran there is correlation to the number 8 and its spirituality” – Abrar Al Ebrahim

To complete my look I chose one of the rings with Arabic lettering from Th’haba YIELD collection. Translated as “Yield and Surrender”, both words essentially have the same meaning. However, one is to give in for spiritual reason and the other for external reason. During my book-signing and Q&A event in Bahrain we discussed the art of jewellery self-expression. I believe that ring should have a personal meaning. And it is exactly what the “Yield and Surrender” ring is designed for: when the wearer looks at it, he reflects on his current state and decides whether to surrender and let it go or to surrender and let himself go…
